The Motivation
As a premier golf school with locations at prestigious courses around the country, Bird Golf Academy puts a priority on creating the highest quality teaching environments. So they knew they needed to have the best performing hitting surfaces available. They chose to install two Player Preferred Series Combo Mats (each having both hitting and putting surfaces) in indoor/outdoor bays at their Wigwam Resort academy location in Litchfield Park, Arizona. The goal was to provide the most accurate simulation possible of real fairway grass and the roll of actual putting greens. The Pure Impact Turf hitting surface includes a Vibration Absorption Layer to avoid clubhead bounce and provide the most accurate launch monitor metrics available and the greatest feedback in feel and sound. This allows both the player and instructor to fully understand what is happening at impact. The mats also include Fiberbuilt's realistic putting turf with metal cups for ideal auditory feedback. And both mats have center-hitting configurations to accommodate right- and left-handed players. Uniquely, the academy reversed the mat directions so players can hit out of the bays onto the range, and putt toward the interior.
